THRILLER NIGHT

Happy Halloween!

When’s the last time you went trick-or-treating? My last time was in ninth grade, when I realized I couldn’t much longer get away with showing up for candy at the neighbors’ houses with the area six-year olds.  Us older people need a way to enjoy Halloween as much as the kiddies, don’t we?  And college students can always use a reason to paaaaaaartaaaaay.  While any college Halloween party wouldn’t be complete without creative drinking games and girls dressed in sexy Nemo costumes (LOL), what really makes the party is the music.  To set the right mood, you must have the right mood-setter.  In other words, you need a killer Halloween soundtrack.  Below I’ve listed the top five essential songs to listen to on Halloween.

NUMBER ONE.
Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller.”  Okay, no surprises here, but would you really take me seriously if this wasn’t listed first?  If at all possible, you’re gonna want to have the video on too.  Because it’s Thriller.  And it’s epicness will never go out of style.

NUMBER TWO.
From The Nightmare Before Christmas, “This is Halloween.”  You can’t normally get away with having a song from a movie with clay puppets at your party, but Halloween is the exception.  If you’ve never seen Tim Burton’s classic about the emo Jack Skellington from Halloweenland, you need to step your Halloween game up.

NUMBER THREE.
The Rolling Stones‘ “Sympathy for the Devil.”  Because it’s the Rolling Stones singing about sympathy for the devil.  Pretty self-explanatory, right?

NUMBER FOUR.
Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.”  There’s also Alien Ant Farm‘s updated version of the song, which is also great, but you just can’t argue (or top) Michael Jackson.

NUMBER FIVE.
Outkast‘s “Dracula’s Wedding” featuring Kelis.  If you need more convincing other than the fact that it’s Andre 3000 singing about Dracula, check out the lyrics to Kelis’ hook below:

Give me the chance to dance romance
Don’t run, I’m not the sun
So much at stake, oh bad choice of words
But I’m not the gun with silver bullets
And I can count, 1, 2, 3
Plus I make great peanut butter and jelly sandwiches… Van Helsing.

Happy Halloween everyone!
